PRESENTATION MADE TO RETIRED OFFICER

R.C. Parent, superintendant of the Dominion Experimental Farm in Charlottetown, presented a document to B.F. Tinney of Char- lottetown yesterday at a sere mony at the farm. The document was presented on behalf of :he federal minister of agricultu‘e Douglas Harkness to Mr. Tinney who retired some months ago after 42 years of service at the farm. Prior to his retirement Mr. ’I‘inney was the researcn officer in charge of poultry.

Speed Charge Brings $15 Fine

A Wood Island-s truck driver was convicted Oil a charge of speeding in Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Gilbert A. Gaudet Monday morning.

The accused was fined $15 and costs or 30 days.

The charge was filed by a

Winsloe man who folloWed the truck from Winsloe to a garage on Malpeque Road. The charge read that theaccused had reacn— ed speeds of up to 70 mph. on the Malpeque Road. . The accused and a passenger in the truck testified that while the truck may have reached Eu) mph. a governor would have prevented it from exceeding 65 m.p.h.

Residents of Halifax and Char- lottetown also appearing .on speeding charges were fined $10 and costs or 10 days. Both plead ed guilty as charged.

A charge of assault against a North Rustico man was dismiss- ed. Magistrate Gaudet said that in View of conflicting evidence ‘he had no choice but to dismiss the charge. '
