Things are finally underway - starting With the annual kick—off at Don Gillis' place (a

complete report will follow).

The elections of \

class representatives has been completed - results being: lst year, Angus Orford, Laurie S. 2nd year, Scott Thomas, Harold Frend1 and 3rd year, Jim MacDonald with myself as

president .

Future plans: A possible exchange tournament in softball and hockey with Mt. A. Engineers, and

a golf tourney at Stanhope. are also possibilities.

So far this year sports have been a cause of dis—

appointment for the engineers. The softball team defending champs are having a struggle. The problem is in lad< of depth and returning players. Despite the poor shading, they are looking for better things in the playoffs.

Flag football has not remived good participation. Some people are still trying to get a team together.

The brightest outlook for sports success in our society are the upcoming basketball and hockey teams.

Last year the basketball team made a strcng showing and this year it should be even better. Despite two of last year's players, Alan Thompson and Ken Griffin, graduating, the team will not be short of players. This year's nucleus wir- be: Jim Macdon— ald, Steven “’90, Tcks, Brian MacLeod, Scott Thomas and newcomer Runnie St. Ange. With hard work and good coaching from Darlene Madvevin we expect to make

a run for the title.

Thebestisyettocome- HOCKEY! During the sumer a lot of recruiting was due to add some support to the em'sting team. Our first job was to secure the "Winder-Grinder" omnection of Bob (haisson and Kerry Taylor, who, along with retired Sept McPhee formed a feared line in Engineers history. lIhey scored 13 goals against Acadia last winter. Second year Steve McKinnon deCided to leave Bland'lard due to contract troubles and lack of pay - he will be wearing our colours this year. The last acquisition was free agent Jim Coady who played out his option with Mean Machine last year.

These players added to file regulars - Jeff MacLeod, Gord MacP ,. Gerry Stewart, David Roach, Brian McLeod plus others make a formidable team.

The future looks good for Engineering teams so watdn out - we are on the novel

Oh yes! We can't forget to tell the story' of Don Gillis' corn boil. How about that for a party? Some corn was husked and boiled- some actually eaten. However the corn had a rival in the form of liquid. Yes, sir, the corn was good

. bub fiery refreshments were a little better.

The standard initiation took place on top of an old flat bed trailer. Everyone passed with ~ almost no trouble. A proper (mugging match was in the organizational stage when the introduction of a hose watered everyone dom. First year students should take note of the wise _3rd years who brought extra clothes!

Of course, all stories have amending although some engineers can't remember it (right Jim!) Let's say the pace was a bit slow in lst Floor Buffy the next day.
