masturbate. It has been re- ported that men masturbate 50 to 70 percent more than women, though the female percentage seems to be steadily rising. In the Details survey, 44 percent of women and 7 percent of men said they do not mas- turbate. The most common fre- quency of masturbation for women was a few times a month, while 3 times a week was for men. Our numbers were too small to draw any real conclu- sion, but about three quarters of males said once a day. The female numbers had a wider range: about a quarter said two to three times a week; 15 percent said once every three months. Female answers tended to be more vague: ’ ‘whenever needed,’’ ‘‘’a:lot,‘’’ /’fre- quently,’’ ‘‘every so often’’.

Oral and anal

Only a single sexually active male reported not having had oral sex. Of sexually active women, 90 percent said they’ve given or received head. Anal sex was deceptively common: one quarter of men and women said they’ve tried it. Ow.

Bicurious

22 percent of heterosexual men and 21 percent of women said they have had thoughts of

custom. In the 60’s, 95 per- cent of American boys were circumcised. In 1986, only 60 percent were. There has been mounting evidence that not circumcising may lead to uri- nary tract infections. The American Academy of Paediat- rics has gone on record as saying that circumcision has

‘‘potential medical benefits and advantages.’’

A male typically ejaculates 3 to 5 cubic centimetres of semen, though factors like amount of sexual stimulation and time since last ejacula- tion have an effect. Most often the semen oozes out of the penis under some pressure, but it can sometimes spurt

sexual experiences with the same sex.

Sexiest body part The answers for sexiest body

part were all over the place. 15 percent of women said
