Included on the program will be a hose-reel race. ladder races. hose coupling and hose replace- ment competitions. and two open sporting events, a 100 yard dash and a one-mile relay race.

The keen. friendly rivalry that always exists between the dif- ferent fire-fighting units at these annual competitions is expected to be uppermost in today's meet and should provide fun and act- ion galore for the many specta- tors who are planning to take in the tournament.

There will- be four main team:-.

in action. those of this citv. Sumrnerside. Dartmouth. N. S . and Dalhousle. N. B. The first

event will be the Hose Reel Race nver a 300 yards course. Next on the program will be the 50 yar.-l ladder race with the same teams competing.

Four other events will follow -the Hose Coupling Race. tlir Hose Replacement Race. the 440- yard Relay and the 100 yard dash. In the evening the post- poned program for the big fire- men's parade to Victoria Parlr' and the fireworks show will be staged. The latter will be fired from Fort Edward.

Take Option To Purchase Slock Of Boston Bruins

BOSTON. July 5 - (AP) - An option to purchase the majority stock of the Boslon Bruins' Na- tional Hockey League club was obtained today by the Boston Garden-Arena Corporation. The lattei-'5 president. Walter A. Brown, oaid the option will expire Aug. 1.

Brown has been negotiating with president Weston Adams of the Bruins for several weeks. Adams owns 60 per cen-t of the stock in the hockey club. organized in 1924 by his late father, C. F. Adams.

In addition to his hockey hold- ings. Adams also owns 2.000 shares of Garden stock that will change hands in the proposed transaction.

The only other sizable amount of hockey club stock is the 38- per cent holding of Art. Ross, its vice-president and general man- ager. Roris. who has two years

with Adams. will retain his shares and connections if the deal is completed.

Brown has indicated that coach Lynn Patrick also will be retain- ed if the Garden takes over the hockey club, which. until the last. three years. was a hlghly-profit- able sports property.

Vee-ck Takes Over St. Louis Browns

ST. LOUIS, July 5 -(AP) Bill Veeclr formally took over St. Louis Browns of the American league today and announced he

will retain Zach Taylor as man- nger-for I time, at least.

build awlnning ballteam and that Negroes would be given every op- portunity to qualify.

Neither the Browns nor st. Louis Cardinals hava Negro play- ers.
