Jul. 8 - The Hillsborough River Association and Island Trails are cohosting two excursions starting at the Mount Stewart Legion Parking lot and going to St Andrew's on the Confederation Trail. A bird walk with an experienced leader will start at 6:00 am and a nature walk will commence at 10:00 am. Contact the Association at 892-5653 for further information. Tuesdays: Jul. to Sept. 26 - The Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project will feature morning walk the three nature trails to look at plants, check for salamanders, and observe birds. Walks start from the Nursery at 9:00 am on Tuesdays.

Thursdays or Fridays mornings: Jul. 6 to Aug. 25 - The Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project will host its environmental education program "Sharing a Love of Nature" for children six to ten. Children can attend Thursdays or Fridays, 9:00 am to noon, for all or part of the 8—week program. Rockweed (Fucus vesiculosis). A type of brown seaweed found in tidal areas. Clam Worm (Nereis limbata). One of a group of creatures called the segmented worms, the clam worm lives near shores and eats any small creature it can capture with its sharp pincers. In turn it is eaten by fish.
