Orrawa, May 31.—The Government is having trouble over the plebiscite matter. Methodist district meetings now taking place in Ontario are passing resolutions condemning the back-handed stroke at the prohibition cause, and it is supposed that the annual conferences, which are about to take place, will pass still stronger resolutions.

The Solicitor-General gives notice of a bill repealing the act constituting’ the office of Controller, and making further

changes in the Department’s cflices. No details are, as yet given out, and there .is much . conjecture as

to the scope of the measure. The notice itself only mentions the repeal of the act creating the controllership, but is possi- ble that the measure» may effect the De- partment of Trade and Commerce, other- wise it will still further increase the num- ber of Cabinet Mivisters and depaitments] heads,
