The need of modern quarters for Naval training purposes was stress- ed last night by Commodore K. F. Adams, Commanding Officer. Nav- al Divisions, Hamilton. Ontario who conducted the annual divis- ional inspection of the H.M.C3. Queen Charlotte.

Commodore Adams stated that the crew of the Queen Charlotte was working under difficult con- ditions due to the age of the present building and that it would be most advantageous if they were provided with new, modern quart- ers. “Until then we shall do the best with what. we have," he stated.

He is accompanied on his in- spection four by his secretary, Lt. Omdr. W. 1-‘. Dobaon and his Flag Lieutenant, Lt. C. M. Combs.

Commodore Adams stated there was a definite lack especially in the Maritime Provinces of men who wish to participate in Reserve training.

He said that the l—l.M.O.s. Queen Charlotte was capable of handling many more men than her present. complement. "it is a problem,’’ he stated," To bring it home to the young men that they have definite responsibilities with regard to re- serve training."

Commodore Adams stated that Canada needed about 14,000 men under training in the Reserve Navy to meet her commiltmei-its and that at present only about half that number are being trained. Commodore Adams arrived here westerday evening from saint John.

The death occurred suddenly In the Prince Edward lsland Hos- pital yesterday morning of Mr James E. Harris. well-known architect, in his 68th year.

The late Mr. Harris was educat- ed at St. Peter‘: Boys‘ School and West. Kent School in Charlotte- town. He later attended McGiil University in Montreal where ha received his degree in Architec- ture. Following his graduation from McGill. he was associated with his uncle. the late W. C. Harris. in architectural work in Halifax, N. S. A few years later, he returned in Charlottetown where he took up permanent re- sidence and instituted a long. suc- cessful career in his profession.
