In 1928 he was s. partner- in the brokerage firm of Sims and Dawson and took part in mine financing and general development PmiNi-s. l-le was one of the pioneer merchants who helped build Zebaiios, B.C. in the early days of the sold rush on the west coast of Vancouver island. The funeral took place on November 14. Surviving members of the family are Mrs. Dawson and one daughter. in Van- couver. A son, Douglas. was killed in the air force during the late war.

“Our Company, for some time, were thinking along the lilies that you have suggested, that is larger boats; but we have lately changed our views. and believe that the rem- edy is sufficient dredging, propel aids to navigation, and proper lighting on the piers. which would permit. an extra crossing by one or both boats. if traffic was not cleaned up on the last scheduled trip. “Wears satisfied that this would relieve the situation for the pres- ent. and except on special occasions. tfhere would belittle cause of com- plaint. and the extra cost would be very trifling as compared to the cost of providing new ships.

However. starts on new ltomes. said the Bureau of Statistics today. are lagging. In the eight-month period starts were made on 57,827 units, compared with 60,465 last year.

Completions were more numer- ous in all Provinces except British Columbia.

Ontario took the lead. both in the number of dwellings built and new ones started. completing 20,025. compared with 16.214 last year and started 20,931, compared with 19,- 284.
