JAIL BREAKERS SENTENCE!)- Petriék Ircughran and Clarence Dunn came up for sentence yester- duy on two indictments of being unlawfully at large while under sen- tence o! imprisonment. Both men were sentenced to six months in Queerfs county Jail on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently.

PAINFIE ACCIDENT — Master Russel Moore, young son oi Mr. Harry Moore, Milton, met with a painful accident last Friday. He was riding on a motor truck, and. as the truck approached his father's gate- way, the little lad Jumped off and was struck by an on-coming car, the wheel oi the car passing over his foot. While quite painful, the in- jury was not serious-L.

The number present and the sincere reverence evident was a gratifying token that the sacrifices of our noble dead have not been forgotten, but urc still cherished in grateful and loving memory by those for whom they died in defence of liberty and Jus- tice. Sixteen years ago today millions of war weary people thanked God for the Armistice. At last there was peace and perhaps at no other time in the world's history were so many persons affected by such deep emo- tions. The carnage and the slaugh- ter oi more than four years were over. For a brief time reiolcing and happiness held sway.

Upon the declaration oi war great streams of men and money poured into the melting pots along the bat- tle fronts. To many it was not a. new experience, they remembered the anxious days oi the South Ai- rican campaign, and yet others re- called the campaigns of the 90's and the 90's.

There were countless citizens to whom it was all strange but the call to arms was received as a matter oi course. England was at war and men were needed then as they had been on many other occasions. "For King and Country-three years oi duration" were not mere phrases coined by Recruiting sergeants.

In the ‘Training Camps through- out the Empire a great molding process‘ was under way. The raw material was being put into shape and oi a. truth all men were equal

Be it at the Q. M. stoma when uni- forms were being issued or when being lnnoculated or on pay parade or when a. Number 9 was handed out as the cure of all earthly ills.

The dross oi pettiness and snob- bery had no place and was soon dis- carded. In its stead were formed fast and true friendships. The X- rays oi active service quickly indic- ated a man's real worth and I am confident that the Err-Service men here present will agree with me when I say that in the midst oi death and desolation there was more cfthe worthwhlleness in life, more oi comrsdeship and brotherly love thanlstobeseenonmanyanoc- tension during these strenuous days

In addition to the arrests men- tioned. thirteen prosecutlons were entered under the Prohibition Act. resulting in sight convictions and iivs dismissals; nine being charg- -ed with unlawful possession. three for unlawful sale and one for il- legal consumption oi liquor. There were also sis: prosecutions under the Customs Act for harbouring amuqled rum, resulting in five convictions and one dismissal. There were three prosecutions un- der the Banitury By-law, eight for non-payment of dog tax, one for owning vicious dog, one for con- tempt or court. one for "speeding." and two for juvenile delinquency Two charges of operating motor vehicles to common danger were dismissed. -
