New York, July 3.— Sixty-seven bodies have, 80 far,been recovered from the burrt bulke of the steamers at the North Ger- man Lloyds docks.
All estimates now agree that fully two hundred lives were lost by the terrible fire at Hoboken and three North German Lloyd steamers, the Saale. Bremen and Main, are completely wrecked.
The steamships were allof large size, | the Saale being 10,509 tons gross. | The property loss inclades the steam- ships and their cargoes, canal boats, and ‘other craft, railway cars and goods, the three docke of the North German Lloyds filled with merchandise,aod the Thing- valla Line pier, with extensive damage to the Hamburg Line pier.
The scene of the great fire today pre- sented a epectacuiar but horrible sight. Over in Hoboken where two days ago piers reaching huadreds of feet out into the river aud rising in the air like great bills, etood alive with outgoing and in- coming comme:ce, a mammoth waste of burning and smouldering beams, with here and there an occasional remnant of a high brick wall are all that remains of the hundreds of thoueands of dollars worth of property.

|The Gun Shift Goes to No. 2 Co.— Montague’s Splendid Work. Yesterday’s weather was in every way | favorable to the military sports. The rain | of the morning, followed by the sunny af- | ternoon, served but to freshen the day | and to make it more enjoyabie. : Great interest centered in the military ;everts. The emulation of the different companies was Very keen, and produced some excellent records as to time and distance. The winning company and No. 2 Co. Artillery were entered in almost all the events. This gave a much better chance to win the trophy to these companies than tothe others.
The Montague company (Art.) were represented by one of the best teams of men ever onourtracks. The men were & surprise in many of the contests. In points they ran No. 2 Co. very close, s€curing 423. R. A. Donahoe and K. McPherson did some very excellent work.
Pownal was represented by W. Joues, No. 2 Co;, 820d Regiment. Though the only man from his company it did not lose by him for he secured first place in heavy bammer throwing aud first in the heavy marching order race.
Therunning races were numerous aod very interesting. Most of the Island runs neis competed and did well. This last is said because F. L, Stephen, of the Wan- derers, Halifax, wason the track. His ru ning was splendid, and resulted io his securing the 100 yards dash and the 220 yards run.
The single objection that can be felt against the affair was the great length of time that the events occupied, Several of the contests could have been eliminated without impsiring the excellence of the twurpament. Still the management was most Ssstisfactory, though time was oc- casionally fost. Sergeant - [netructor Sutherland made a very.excellent an- nouncer, and thoroughly idgratiated him- self with all.
The 4th Regiment Band discoarsed very fine music during the day.
We have no doubt that No 1’s mascot,
Captaln Bartlett during the day brought good luck . od v ctory to No. 1.
The Licycle races were tew. The first was the one mile novice, which was won by H Wonacott, S Doyle second. 2 62 1-5.

The 16 pound shot put was participate in by Capt W A Jonnsiune, J Donanoe, h A Donaboe snd J McPherson, Montague; C McDonald and E Heartz,No1Ceo Ar- tillery; and H Sprague and J R Darke, No 2 Co Artillery. It was won by R A Donabce by a throw of 32 feet 2 inches; second, Sprague, 32 feet 14 inches; third, J MaPher on, 31 teet 11 iuches.
The running broad jump was one of,the best contested events of the day. It was won by K McPherson for Montague by a jump of 19 teet 11} inchee. CJ Mc- Millan, of No 1Co. Artillery, made a, jump of 19 teet 6 inches and secured secoud place. RA Dovahoe, of Montague won tkird place by a jumpof 18 feet 5} inches.
The pole vault was stubbornly fought out by H L Ruggles, of the Wanderers, Halifax, R A Doaahoe, Jos. Lawler and L McDonald. The first two tied for first place, and each will get a prize. Lawler obtained third place. Height 9 feet 103 inches.
The neavy hammer waa thrown by J. Donahoe, C McDonald, J R Drake and W Jones. Jones won bya throw of 92 feet
}inches: G McDonalc, 91 feet 94 inches; J R Drake, 86 feet 1 inch.
The hizh jump was won by H L Rug- gles by ajumpof 5 feet 34 inches. K McPherson secured second place and D McPherson third, the two being of Monta- gue.
The obstacle race was won by A Mac~ leod, Engineers, D Sullivan was secoud and L McDonaldthird. Time 35 seconde.
A large number started in the heavy marching order race of 220 yards. It was won by W Jones; second E Heartz; thiri Lieut Leigh. Time 29 seconds.
The wheelbarrow race was won by the barrow from Montague, No. 2 Company Artillery wen tecond and third places and Nol Co. Artillery won fourth place.
The first of the foot races was the bun- dred yard dash. ‘The first heat was won by F. L. Stephen; second, H Ritchie; third, H Bethune. Time—10 2-5 seconds. The second heat was won by PA Duffy; second, E Ritchie; third, J MoMillan, Time—1l1 seconds. The final heat was run by the firet three in each heat. It was won by Stephen. H Ritchie secured

Lonpon,July 3. —The Emperor William of Germany has responded to the news of the murder of his minister at Pekin, China, by ordering four of tbe battle- ships of the German navy to at once pre - ceed to Chinese waters. In addition to this, German troops, to the number per- haps of twenty thonsand men, wil! be despatched to the far East.

The interior of the church has been very prettily decoraied. Within the sanc- tuary, on the Ep‘stle side, a beautiful Throne bas been erected for the visiting prelate, and suspended trom the cei ing are handsome streamers,white snd yellow —the Papsl colore—predominating, while througbout other parts of the church and along the front of the galleries are etream- ers of red, white and blwe, inter sect-d by appropriate mottos. The main altar nas been exquisitely decorated with flowers and potted plante, and some delightful electrical effects ha ve been arranged,
Outside the churcb, over the main eu~ trance, has been placed a large trane- parency conteining the arme of His Ea- cellency blended with the arms of the Fransciscan Order. On the transparency is the following inscription: “ Illus- trium et Reverendissium De Diomedem Fa)conium Delegatum Apostolicum Diocesis Carolinapoli- tans, Letitia Exultus Salutat.” The windows in the front of the cathedral have also been decorated with the Papal colors. The appearance that will be presented when the church is lighted up cannot fail tc be pleasing.
Atter service in the Cathedral His Ex- cellency will be escorted to the Palace, the grounds of which will be brilliantly lighted. Several bands of music will pley on the grounds.
On Wednesday Hie Excellency will visit the Catholic inetitutions, and in the even- ing, from 7.30 until 9.30, be will hold a
