PARIS 0ct._ Z-(CP Havas)-Sources close to the French naval ministry said tonight the allies’ vigorous anti-submarine warfare has destroyed or decommissioned nearly all of Germany’s larger-type submarines and has shaken the morale of the U-boat corps.

These sources said that reports from Germany indi- cated the small number of U-boats which returned from the first attackson allied shipping so dismayed the sub- marine corps that Adolf Hitler and Admiral Erich Raedcr had‘ to attend in person the latest submarine departure of a new wave of underseas craft from Wilheimshaven to bolster the men's spirits.

(Berlin reported Hitlefs one-day visit to Wilhelms- haven last week was to congratulate submarine command- ers on their “successes" in attacking allied shipping.)
