Couple Pledge Vows At St. Dunstan’s Basilica

A very pretty wedding took place on Sept. 18th, at. St. Dun- .gtan’s Basilica, Charlottetown, P. E. Island. when~Jane Maureen Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bell. Charlottetown, was united in marriage with Wilfred Joseph McKenna. son of Mr. and Mr. Elmer McKenna, Char- lottetown. \

Right Reverend Monsignor Pa- trick McMahon performed the double ring ceremony and cele- brated the nupital mass. Master Richard Chine-ry, cousin of the groom served.

The organist was Mr. Allbert Blanchard who also accompan- led the soloists Misses Ambyr and Gertrude Doyle.

The bnide who was given in mar— riage by her father, was attend- ed by her sister Loyola (Mrs. Lemuel White) as matron of hon- or and Miss Shirley McKenna, sister of the groom: as brides- maid.

Mr. Francis McKenna, brother of the groom was best man. The ushers were Mr. Allison Bell, brother of the bride, and Mr. Donald Claytbourne. V

The bride was radiant in a floor lenth gown of lace and net over satin and a matching lace bolero trimmed with iridescent sequins. The long sleeves taiper- ed to point over the hands.

The finger tip veil was held in place by a bridal wreath. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

The maid of .honor wore a gown of lime green net over tatt- feta with headdress and mitts to match.

The bridesmaid wore a gown of yellow net over taffeta with matching headdress and mitts. Both carried nosegays.

The mother of the bride wore a grey suit with navy accessor- ies and a yellow rose corsatge. The mother of the groom wore a grey suit with black accessor— ies and a red rose corsaige.

Following the marriage cere- mon-g a reception was held at _tha Queen Hotel. The brides ta- ble was centered with a three- iiered Wedding cake topped with

a miniature bride and groom.

Mr. Robert E. Bradley. uncle of the bride, acted as toastmas- ter and called on Mr. Edward Chinery to propose the toast to the bride which was fittingly re- plied to by the groom.

Contgratulatory remarks were made by Mr. Russell Bell, Mr. Elmer McKenna. Mr. Francis Bell, Mr. Donald Olaylbourne, Mr. Francis McKenna, Mr. Aus- tin Bradley Mrs. Anthony Haiuglh- ey, Mrs. Eunice Bell.

One of the first duties of the toastmaster was to read the tele grams received from the fol- lowing, J'ane Nora and Lemuel White; Orvilla and Harry Kirk- bright; Len and Nora McKenna; Mrs. Perl White; Helen and Aus- tin Bradley; F‘auss and Johnnie Webber. '“ \

The day was spent very en- joyably with music and dancing at the home of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. McKen-na left on a short honeymoon through the States to Toronto .and Niagara Falls. The young couple will re- side in Charlottetown.

Previous to the wedding var- ious functions were held for the hatppy couple.

On August 28th, a miscellan- eous shower was heldlat Brack- ley for the bride by the girls of Canada Placrketns where the bride is employed. She received many lovely gifts and everyone spent a very enjoyable evening.

On September 8th, at the home of Mrs. Clarence Reeves. 222 Hillst Street. the sister of the bride Mrrs. Lemuel White and ‘Mrs. Reeves were coahostesses at a shower for the bride at which the bride received many lovely gifts.

On September 15th. Mrs. Elmer McKenna, 266 Queen St. mother of the groom, tender- ed a shower for the bride at which she also received many beautiful gifts.

On September 16th at the home of Mr. Wilfred Shepherd. Spring St., a. stag party was held for groom at which .' received a very lovely gift.

Rev. B‘ryer R. Jones, returned Sunday evening. after an almost four weeks visit in Montreal, To- ronto and Albany. Mr. Jones also had a most enjoyable motor trip through the state of Vermont. While in Toronto he preached at the Hill-crest Church of Christ.

Mr. and Mrs. N.H. DeB‘lois and Mr. and Mrs. ES. Story have returned from a trip around the Oatbot Trail. They were staying at the Itnverariay Inn, Batddecik, Cape Breton.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom D. D-eBlois left Thursday on a motor trip through the New England states.

Dr. Kenneth Tulle, Dalhou'sie, N.B., and Miss Edith Mpsett, Halifax, Nova Scotia, spent the Thanksgiving holiday with Dr. Tulle's father, Mr. George Tulle, Pownal Street.

Mrs. Howard MacDonald, Pow- nal Street, who has a host of friends in the Maritime Provin- ces as well as other parts of Canada and the United States, will be sorry to hear that she is a patient in the Prince Ed- ward Island Hospital. Mrs. Matc- Donald was taken to the hospi- tal Wednesday eveninlg from the Queen Hotel.

A wedding of interest to a host of friends took place at 8 o‘clock Saturday night, Sept. 20th, at the home of the groom's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jar- vis, 109 ll-llilIsborouglh Street. Oharlottetowu. when Gather-inc Ella, dughtetr of Mll'. and Mrs. Charles MaoKen‘na. Borden, was united in marriage to Orville Bruce, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Jarvis. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. H.R. Bell of Kings- bore.

At 8 o’clock the bridal party entered the room to the strains of the Bridal Chorus played by the groom's aunt. Mrs. Robert Baker, and took their place und- _er a beautifully decorated arch of autumn leaves, roses and wed- ding bells.

The bride given in marriage by her brother. Everett, looked lovley in her ballerina length gown of white embroidered not over taffeta. The gown featured a very full skirt with slim fitted bodice and long taippering sleev- es coming to a «point over the hands.
