Now, we submit that in the adjustment of the railway tariff, all these conditions and circumstances peculiar to the Isiand, should be taken into consideration. But this is just what has not been done. = It was the policy of the Grits of this Province, who were in power when the railway con- menced’ operations, to render the railway unsuccessful, so that their prophecies of impending ruin might be fulfilled; and bo- sides, it must be admitted they were with- out experience as to how the ratliway would efiect the Island. But now that we know what is needed, now that we have the Conservatives—the friends of the railway—in power the people naturally look for a change. The modification re- cently made regarding mussel mud hag been attended by gratifying results; and gtatifying results will, we are confident, follew the lowering of the tariff on pota- toes and limestone. So, also, whenever passenger tickets have been issued at ex- eursion rates, or fares have in any way
