(By The Canadian Press) EDMONTON, July iii-Canadian women owe a certain responsibility to wipes o; new Canadians 1n the matter of naturalization, Judge Helen Gregory McGill, of Vancou- ver, said in an address to the local Council of Women here. "Many wives of new Canadians who have become citizens do not themselves take out naturalization papers," she said. ‘Their husbands make new assocations and adapt themselves to the new country. But these alien wives, absorbed by home life and the rearing of families, do not learn the language and new customs quickly.

Butter-worth, vicar of Whalley, preached a sermon at the anniversary service held at the village church. The service was at- tended by the trustees of the hospi- tal, of which body Colonel John Rlrkcr, of Browsholme Hall, is chairman. and by the 28 widows who live at the hospital. There were in addition a dozen out-pensioneler.

The preacher received three guineas for his services and each out-pensioneer who attended was granted the sum oi 5s. The allow- ance of an out-pensioner is £20 a

Waddingtzn Hospital was found- ed about 1680 by Robert Parker, of Carlton, who was second cousin of Edward Parker, of . Brownsholme. and was one of the the first trusees. The hospital was originally en- dowed with land in Waddlngton, Carlton Kefghley, Manningham, Hellifield, and Long Preston. and though much of the land has been disposed of, ground rents still yield an income of £1,520 s year.

This substitute has to be a man so the evangelist said, but as all "men are equally guilty there is therefore no man that can take another man's place. Thus because of this it was therefore necessary for the Son of God to become a man which he did when he took upon himself human flesh and was born a babe in Bethlehem. This explains the reason, so the evangelist said why God,the Son became the Son of man. Nor did he become a man as a man was before Adam sinned, nor a man was immediately after Adam sinned but as a man was after 4000 years in sin. Thus he waited and took sinful nature upon him. ‘but yet did not commit s'n himself. Rather did he overcome every sin and set us the example that it is possible for sinners through his power to live as he ‘Ived while 0n earth.
