A Crvet Disappoistment.—A _ short time ago a4 fine company of volunteers was organized ia Summerside, and it was the intention to send two of the number to the artillery school at (Juebec thie winter, in order, by a course of practical! training, to fit them for the position of instructors. The company was organized under excellent auspicee, and, from its personel, gave promise of becoming one of the finest in the service. A few days ago, however, official intimation was received from headquarters that it was not the 1n- tention of the Militia Department to in- crease the forces at present and conse- quently no equipment was forthcoming. This will of course recult in the disband- ing of the corps, to the great disappoint- ment and indigaation to the volunteers themselves, and the citizens generally. In this connection it would look as though our representatives in parliament had no it fluence whatever with the government they support, else they would surely bave been able to secure the proposed volunteer company the official sanction and encour- agement of which the movement was de- serving. :The disappointed volunteers should not forget this phase of the matter when election day next comes round.— Summerside Journal.
