WITI-I THE R. C. A. I“, SO - WHERE, IN ENGLAND. June 9 — (CP)—- Everywhere that men fly they are unanimous in one thing-» a. deep-seated belief that the ground crews are terrific.

“They don't get nearly enough credit," said Pilot Officer Willie Lane of Budbury, Ont, a fighter pilot, now missing, when this re- porter visited one of the hottest sectors of southern England.

Willie was out on the landing field checking over "Jenny T1" the S itfire he'd fly later in r-he day. he ground crew had it ready to roll because the squadron was on readiness and were just doing a little extra touching up.

There is reason for this ground crew under Cpl. Jim Cleaver of Winnipeg to feel more than ordin- ary pride in the job. This plane (or better still, "their plane" be- cause they felt it was theirs as much as Wiilielsi had accounted for one Nazi fighter.

The rest of this ground crew in- eludes LAC. Frank Byrne, oi Bristol. P.E.I., a rlgger. and Cpl. John Buxion of Moncton. N.B., a fitter.

It takes these fellows only three minutes to get a fighter all set for the air alter returning from a sweep. They race out with their screw drivers and in a twinkling have the planes "works" under their care.
