First let me explain what happened: Alter Ego, CIMN’s first ever program guide, is atwelve page magazine featuring interviews, charts, reviews and so yn, and is available at various music stores and the ike around Charlottetown. Issue one was a minor lisaster. Firstly, a list of absurdly offensive song itles entitled ‘“Songs My Mother Taught Me’’ was ensored by select members of Student Union. Myself nd acouple of staff members had to go through one housand copies with paintbrushes blacking out the ffending piece. Asif this weren’t enough, it turned ut the diagram we printed of how to get hooked up to M Cable was illegal.

n iron-fist. Certainly the matter could have been andled more tactfully, as one CIMN volunteer sug- ested, perhaps a disclaimer would have sufficed ither than erasing the piece from existence. Besides iis, the decision was made in a matter of minutes

ith no chance for myself or others to give our views. Songs My Mother Taught Me’’ was intended asa Ke, and was taken as such by everyone I know who is seen it. Personally, I don’t see how a title like King Kong’s Penis’’ can inspire anything but laugh- r. | admit printing such an article in what is really a Iblicity piece for CIMN and the university may not ive been such a bright idea, but it’s a mistake I lieve we should have been able to make rather than ve Student Union gag us.
