An anecd ote of James G. Blaine is go- ing the rounds, the point of which is lost hy a typographiesl error. He suggested a shange in a line of Whittier’s “Among the Hills,” which was adodptod by the poet. When Mr. Blaine first visited Whittier, he spoke of the poem referred to as one of hie favorites, and taking up the volume he read aloud some stanzas of it. When he
