Because a esident of UL nage wanted to buy a particular second-hand car badly enough to turn up the number oi its license plate in a car registration book in order to identify the owner, Mr. Eric Cousins _oi Summerslde has recovered possession of a car stolen from him more than three months ago. ‘ -

Mr. Cousins missed his car on August 4 last and immediately re- ported to the Summerside police and to the R.C.M.P. detachment stationed there, but without re- sults. Later, he also notified the R..C.M.P, at Charlottetown.

On Nov. l4 he received a letter from a Mr. Anderson of Dunstaff- nagelaskinghim if he cared to sell the car which Mr. Anderson said he had .see.n at Martin's garage, Charlottetown. Mr. Cous- ins lost no time in ‘getting to Charlottetown. At the garage he was informed there was a car there bearin the license plate number oi hs car. Mr. Cousins viewed the car.'~It was his. ‘He could have his property, the gob ago proprietor informed Mr. Cou- sins, upon payment of $2 which was his fee for having, at the request of the Charlottetown City Police, towed it from the side of one oi_ the City's streets to his garage. _ '

Apparently. after the Charlotte- town City Police on Aug. 9, live days after the car was stolen. had found it abandoned on one oi the City's streets, they had dismissed the incident from their minds.

For the past thre; years Father Cot- ton oificiated as chaplain at the Jane Furze Hospital in the North- ern Transvaal.

Work Handicapped

Christian missionary work in South Africa, according to Father Cotton, has always been compli- cated and seriously handicapped by two major problems. The de- velopment of a social inferiority complex among the natives has been fostered by the dominating attitude of the Europeans residing there and constitutes a major problem; the other, Father Cot- ton states, ls caused by the in- evitable dlsunlty arising among the Christian workers in South Africa by reason of there being 300 separate religious denominat- ions or sects agencies working there.

As practically all of the great African continent with its mil- lions of coloured people is owned or controlled byEuropean nations. Father Cotton does not think there wlil ever, be much change in the soclal'or economic status of those exploited millions until full equality of citizenship is granted to the 13,000,000 coloured people living‘ in the United States. The granting of such equality by the United States would have a tremendous uplifting influence in South Africa, Father Cotton said.
