E. 1, the Professor said that if potatoes, after they were dug, were sprinkled with what is known as the Bordeaux mixture—which consists of binestone and lime dissolved ip water according to a formulas that is weli known—and then left in small piles to dry before they were housed or cellared, this would prove beneficial and to a very con- siderable extent prevent the decay that subsequently took place in so many in- stances, by which farmers and shippe:s sut- tered so much loss.
