inst. entitled “ Politics and Politicians in Charlotte- vown, No. J,” and thereupon writes half a column of a communication, by which we learn that his knowledge of English Grammar and Composition is about equal to) iis veracity: the former would be a disgrace to the! most incompetent of Printers Devils; the Father of Lies! limself could barely rival the latter. Both are, how- ever, eminently worthy of the Islander. For the satis- “action of the curious we may state, that the Hon. Mr. Swabey did not write the article attributed to him—nor did he see it until within a day or two.

The principal offices of the Government, viz :‘Colo- nial Secretary, Treasurer, Surveyor General, Collector of Impost, Judge of Probate, &c. have been this day removed to the “Colonial Building.

Accipentat Deatu.—A farmer named Bernard Mc- Kewon, residing on the Monaghan Road, Lot 36, met with instant death on Satarday last, under the following circumstances: ‘The deceased, with a number of others, was employed in getting out of the woods, near his own residence, a very large spar or mast piece, to which fifteen pair of horses were yoked; a jam took place and as the team ‘suddenly started forward, after the timber had been eased, the unfortunate deceased was instantly telled to the earth, with his own handspike, and crushed to death with the following roller. An inquest was held on Sunday.— Gaz.

Fire.—The house, barn and outhouses belonging to James Hollman, Winsloe Road, was destroyed by fire on Monday, the 12th instant. It is supposed that the ‘ire was occasioned by a spark from a woods burning at some distance lighting on a stack of hay, which it ig- nited, and the fire rapidly spread to the buildings, the inmates having barely time to save their hedding, &c., and making their escape; two-calves were burn: in the stable. ‘The owner, an honest, hard-working man, has thus lost nearly all he possessed in the world.—Adv.

Boat Stolen.

TOLEN ont of Nail Pond Run (Tignish), on the night of the Ist August, a BOAT, 24 feet keel, nearly new, together with her Sails (mainsail, foresail

and jib), 30 fathoms of cable rope and a small anchor. -
