MI. JABEZ MILL

A very sad gloom was out over Clement and the surrounding district when it became known that Jabez Mill had passed peace- fully away on the evening of July 25. 'l1he late Mr. Mill was born at Clennont In 1862 and was the son of the late William T. Mill. When just a young man he become engaged in the business of shipping smells to New York market and continued this busi- ness for the past fifty years.

In 1900 he married Mary Eliza- beth Ballem oi Ellerslie. who pre- deceased him just one year ago. To is union were born three sons and four daughters. all of whom survive him. The late Mr. Mill was widely and favourably known and took an active part in all movements toward the better- ment of the community. In short -he was very honourable in the highest sense the term implies and was noted particularly for the hospitality and friendliness which were extended to all who crossed the threshold. In his home where he was a kind and loving father his loss will be most keenly felt. The late Mr. Mill had been in failing health for some time and all that the best medical skill and kind and loving nursing could do was of no avail and his gentle spirit winged its heavenward flight from the scenes of earthly lalbours to the fullest joy of glory.

The funeral wrvice on Thurs- day which was held from his late residence was largely attended and was conducted by Rev. 5. 'J. Davies, his address was full of beautiful and comforting thoughts for ilhe bereaved family as well as paying tribute to the departed.

The floral tributes that covered the casket were silent emblems of love and sympathy and included the following:

The regular monthly meeting of the Maple Leaf Institute of Trav- eller's least was held in the Club Room on Sept. 7th. with the pres- ident, Mrs. Fred Waite presiding. Meeting opened by singing "The More we are Together" followed by the Creed and the Minutes. Roll call for next meeting is to be an- swered by "a joke or riddle".
