EXHIBITION AND RACES.

The time is drawing near for the exs hibition and races, The former opens on Tuesday the 25th inst. For the first time on this Island exhibits from the three provinces will be placed side by side, and let the best win. Ths time for entering exhibits in all classes, except agricultural and horticultural products, fisheries, ladies’ fancy work,art work and cotton’ goods, expires on Tuesday next, the 18:b inst., the latter classes close on Friday the 21st inst,

Kotries are coming in rapidly from the Other provinces as well as this province.

The horse races will take place oo Wednesday aud Thursday, the 26 b and 27th instants. Oo Wednesday, the frat day, the following races will take nlace: Three minute clase, trot, purse £149 00; 2.35 clase, trot and pace, purse Sicu, U, and 2 24 clese trot, purse $250 v0:

Oo Thureday,the second day of the races there will be a 2 28 class, trot, puree $209 00, the grand free-for-all trot with the largest purse ever offered on this Island, viz: $400.00, and a 245 clacs, trot, curse $150.00.

The entries to there races close op Wednesday next, the 19th inet.

As the St. John and Halifax races will thep have been over our races will likely be the last large races this season, and all the fast horees in the maritime provinces are expected tobe here for the last great test of their epeed tnis year.

The exbibition will bé kept open all day and till late each night. There will aleo bea great display of fireworks on the vights of Wednesday aud Thursday, the 26th and 27:h, the like of which bas never been seen here before.

The very lowest railway fares and cheap excursion rates on steamboats from al] points during the exhibition and races.

There will be many other attractione wh'ch will be sdvertised in a few daya.

The admission fee has been made low aud within the reach of all, and as the exhibition and races will be the grand event of the season all should make it a point to attend.

The exhibition and race grounds will he magoificently lighted each eleciricitv by Mr. Waddeli, the manager here of the Royal Electric Light Company of Montreal.
