Other industries work upon wood and iron and na- tural resources, and make them in- to useful adjuncts to the necessi- ties and rational pleasures of the community. The drink traffic and traffickers use as their raw mater- ial the children born into our homes, and could not exist for a generation unless they were euc- cessful in making a proportion of them into drinkers of their booze and victims of their malign activity. When the fathers and mothers of our families invite them as helpful partners in rearing their children, when the school masters and mis- tresses invoke their aid in carrying on the proper education of their pupils, when the Sunday school teacher, the deaeons and ministers of our churches implore their co- operation as indispensable partners in the splritualization and salvat- ion of our people, then it will be time enough and may become our duty to clothe the drink traffic in white raiment and install it in public places. Granting that women may smoke if they want to when is the proper time for her to begin this idle blowing of smoke rings into the air? ‘

Is it when the girl is standing with reluctant feet where the brook and river meet?" Could any- thing be more of a sacriiege than to desecrate the rosy lips of girl- hood with the odor of tobacco? No, no! Wait till she is older, per- haps a, bride enveloped in the mist of a bridal veil. Would orange blossoms look better through a haze of tobacco smoke? Impossible picture, this! Let us go on.

The next stage is the sacred one of motherhood. Can’ a woman af- ford to play with the deadly pois- on nicotine, and thus blight the little life beneath her heart? Will it be of use when she goes down to the borders of the dark valley to

We would recommend that one ounce of cod liver oil should be fed to every ten pregnant females throughout the gestation yaerlod and during the time she is nurs- ing her young, but wo do not rc- commend it after that time.
