HALIFAX (CP) -Dr. Charles

Morton, 78, one of Hnlifax's most prominent physicians, died in hospital Thursday night. Dr. Morton was born in Wal- lace. N.S.. a son of the late Rev. A. D. and Lillian Morton. He practiced in Halifax from 1008 until 1945. Dr. Morton graduated from the University of Toronto in 1801 and did post praduate work in Edin-- burgh, Scotland. before coming to Halifax. He was a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. During the First World War he was professor of obstetrics and gynecology at P '” 'e Univer- sity and for years was on the staffs of the Halifax infirmary and the Grace Maternity Hos- pital.

He was known throughout Nova Scotia medical circles as a for- mer president of the Halifax Med- ical Soclety. I member of the provincial medical board. and examiner for the Medical Coun- cil of Canada and anlexaminer for the provincial medical board for 84 years.
