Charlottetown Y's Men heard an interesting talk on the "Oyster" by Mr. Ralph Machean, Vice-Principal of Prince Street School. at the reg- ular meeting of the club last night.

Mr. Claude anith presided at the meet which was held in the Y. M. C, A. building.

In his opening remarks. Mr. Mae- lean delved into the ancient his- tory of fie oyster stating that this moflusk was well-known as. a del- icacy to the Romans. As early as 78 B. C. this popular see. food was transported from England to Rome by being packed in bags filled with loe which was replenished as often as necessary on the long journey. Large numbers of shells found a- long the shores of numerous Amer- ican rivers beers evidence of the wide-spread use of the oyster as a food by the Indians. So valuable was this shell fish to them that it was commonly used as a medium of 9116051180 in place of gold.
