HALIFAX. March 9-(GP)-The executive of the Maritime Major Hockey League met here today

and confirmed that only four teams will be allowed in circuit playoffs. -

The two bottom teams will be eliminated at the end. of regular scheduled games. The executive also decided that the 10 games postponed by weather will be staged before playoffs.

Circuit. Secretary Chris Mc- Alden said the executive ruled that all remaining games-lnclud- ing the nine postponed fixtures- will be played not later than March 22.

Fifteen games will be played this week and 12 next week. Semi- finals will be best-of-seven series between the first and fourth and second and third teams.

McAlden said present standings of the tealns are: Saint John Br-avers, 81. games played, 108 points. nine games to play: Hal- ifax St. Marys. 8:1 played. 84 points. seven to play; Charlotte- town Islanders, 31 played, 83 points, nine to play: Glace Bay Miners. 81 played. 75 points. nine

The longest topic under discuss- ion was the playoff question. A Monrton delegate moved that the League be terminated as of yes- terday and that a round robin series, with each club meeting the other at home, be played. It was seconded by the Sydney represen- tative who said that if a playoff series was still desired after that, there would be sufficient time to play such a series.

The Charlottetown delegates were against it as well as Halifax. Saint John and Glace Bay.

The schedule will be played to the cnd-or at least ilntil March 22. Any games remaining at that League uvmi-finals will get underway March 24 and continue to April 4. The finals. at the discretion of the two clubs involved, may be shortened to assure a winner by April J6 or 17.
