PRINCE ARTHUR’S RECEPTION.

Prince Arthur has now nearly concluded his tour through the British Provinces, aud will soon settle down to bis usual military du- ties. His reception has been a most husi- astic one, wherever he has gone, and the fact hus a peculiar personal and political signific- ance. It was thought whea the Prince of

ness of his recepticn could not be equalled, much less excelled, by that of any other mem- ber of the royal family short of the Queen her- self; bus the experience of Prince Arthur has shown the incurrectness of this idea. He has been quite zs warmly welconed as his elder brother, and certaiuly the general enthusiasm could not have been greater, or mere sincere.

The political significance of the event is striking. lt forever silences the assertions of annexationists and others, to the effect that

But whatever events the future may have in store for the Dominion, a rebellion azainst the authority of England and a flagrant exhibition of disloyalty cannot be among them. A sure teat has just been supplied, and the loyalty of the Colonists has been found, after ten years of extraordinary growth and governmental changes, to be as true and as unequivocal as | of yore.
