Port Said to the Marseilles evening papers assert that the Dutch cruiser Geldertdland has been obliged to re- duce her speed in consequence of the illness of Kruger. The Geldertd- land is not expected to reach Mar- seilles before Nov. 15.

A large and enthusiastic meeting of the electors of Souris was held last evening. ‘Phe first speaker was, Mr. Beaudry, the Liberal-Conserva- | tive candidate for Gaspe, who was| on his way to the Magdalen Islands, which form part of his constituency. Mr. Beaudry spoke in Freach, and) made a forcible and eloquent speech | which was highly appreciated by the Acadian part of the audience. He predicted a large gain for the Conservatives in the Province of Quebec.

He was followed by Senator Fer-| guson, the speaker of the evening, | who in a forcible speech arraigned the Laurier Government for its broken promises and maladministra- tion generally.
