The public property commit- tee underspent its 1958 estimates by $7,247.69, committee chair- man, Councillor Gerald R. Fos- ter reported.

To achieve this result, his committee had heeded council’s advice to “tighten our belts”, and had initiated no major pro- jects in the past year, Council- lor Foster observed.

While deploring the fact that sewer construction had destroy- ed the lawn developed on the west side of government pond Councillor Foster expressed the hope that the contractors would consult with Mr. Gay prior to replacement “so that the new lawn will meet his high stand- ards.”

Zion YPS Has Regular Meeting

Zion Young Peoples Society held its regular weekly meeting on Tuesday evening. The devo- tional period was led by Adele Jardine and Wendell Brown. Hymns sung were “The Church’s One Foundation” and “Breathe On Me Breath Of God’. The theme was entitled ‘“‘The Great Commission’’.

The president presided over the business portion of the meet- ing. Plans were finalized with regards to the young people tak- ing part in the Sunday evening church service on January 3ist. This Sunday night is also fire- side hour at the YMCA and all young people were urged to at- tend. Oharles Townsley will be the guest speaker. Next week Members of the Young Adult group -will also be taking part in this.
