TOKYO. Sept. 80 - (Saturday) e (A?) - Advancing South Korean forces today slammed artillery fire into fugitive Reds crouched on the 33th parallel boundary of Com- munist North Korea, but they were under orders of the Allied command to halt the chase at the parallel and regroup.

Whether the victorious Allied forces, having smashed the Red invasion of south Korea, eventual- ly will go after the Red army rem- nants in North Korea was a ques- tion not yet answered by the Un- ited Nations supreme command.

The Foreign Exchange Control Board has ordered Canadian banks and other authorized person: to discontinue dealings in foreign exchange until further notice, the Finance Department announced to- night.

The announcement was made amid rumors that the Canadian dol- lar would be brought back to par wilh the United States dollar within the next 40 hours. Thel Canadian dollar now is at e dis-L count of 9.1 per cent.

Finance Minister Abbott said the Cabinet will meet tomorrow to consider action with respect to exchange rates. The matter also is bein-g discussed with the Inter- national Monetary Fund in Wash- ington.

UITAWA. Sept. 29 -(GP)-The Government tonight hoisted its bacon subsidy from 3 1-2 cents to 4 3-4 cents a. pound, effective Mon- day. in what appeared to be a drive to fill the 1950 Anglo-Canadian bacon contract.

The subsidy increase will mean that bacon shippers to the Govern- ment will get 33 3-4 cents a pound for all grades of wiltshire sides. in- stead of the previous 38 1-2 cents. basis delivery at seaboard.

Running into its final quarter, the bacon contract is fair from ful- filled. only 1n,aoo,ooo pounds have been shipped, and it appears quest- ionable, even with the boost in sub- sldy, whether the Government will be able to attract sufficient sellers
