drowsy and was taken to hospital shortly after 11 P. M. At that time he was unconscious. Later in the niflht h_e took convulsions. Death occurred at 4.20 P. M. Sunday due apparently to cerebral nenimorhnge.

James Vlckerson, (sworn), stated that as has been his habit, he took his invalid brother George out in the car. When on the city approach from Hillsboro Bridge he saw three children a short distance away and noticed they had a wheel, a small one, about 18 inches in diameter. The boy in the centre pushed the wheel across the concrete, the near- er boy went t0 catch wheel. The witness stated that he saw him and swerved to the right, he did not get a. chance to use brakes. The right fender struck the boy. He got out of the car and picked the boy up. He did nor, seem to be seriously hurt, but decided to take him to Poly- clinlc. Asked Dr. MacKenzie to ex- amine the boy, and understood that the boy was not seriously hurt. Witness stated that he then notified the police. Going down the street from the Police Station he noticed the headlight bent, went into a gnr- age to get it fixed and noticed a small dent in the fender just below light. Went to the Polyclinlc and inquired about the boy. then ordered taxi to take boy and his mother home.

Questioned as to the speed at which he wns travelling, witness stated that, he thought that he was going between 30 and 25 miles per hour, but was not sure as he did not look at speedometer. He further stated that in attempting to avoid the boy. he swerved to the left, un- til he was up on the ties of the railroad track.

John Cudmore, father of the vic- tim, isworn), stated that when he came home at 5 or 5.30 P. M. he found the boy drowsy. He spoke though and took ofl his overalls. Later. the witness stated, when ho tried to waken him, he could not do so and called doctor to find out what was wrong. About 11 P. M. when he called doctor. He served overseas with the 2nd Heavy Battery. Before the war he was with the Royal Bank in Charlottetown, and for two years following the war was with the R0yal Bank at Calgary. In 192i he went to the United States and ob- tained cmployment in the Treasury Department.

A coroner's inquest into the death of Alban Doucette, North Rttsiico, yesterday afternoon re- sulted in a verdict of accidental drowning while swimming Friday night from Robinson's Island to the breakwater at North Rustico. The Jury also found negligence on the part of Doucettcs companions in leaving him on the island.

The evidence was heard before Coroner Dr. McKcnna and the fol- lowing jurors: Messrs. Archibald Hrtrtiing, Beecher Court. Joseph Peters. James Blacquiere, John Pursey, George LcClalre, J. Gallant.

John Gallant, North Rustico, the first witness examined, testified that about 4 p.ni. Friday lie went aboard a motor boat with Vincent Senior. Austin Doucette. Frederick Doucette, Alban Doucette (the de- ceased) and Yvonne Gautier. They went straight out to a ship; he thought her name was Nellie J. Banks. All went aboard the vessel. The Captain gave them a drink; he did not know whether all had a drink or not. They saw an alr- plane circle two or three times around the vessel. They remained on board about an hour, and left about an hour before sundown. They headed straight for shore, intending to go into Little Harbour, but changed their mind and came upshore. Alban said he would jump over with the keg at Robinson's Is- land.

The Coroner: "Who paid for the keg?"

Witness: "I paid for the keg." They put the boat ashore at Rob- inson Island, “We ‘were to take the big boat int-o the harbour and go out with the dory. Full Inquiry Held Yesterday At North Rustico Into Circum- stances Of Shocking Fatality.

Yvonne Gauthier testified that Austin Doucette asked her to go out mackerel fishing. About 4 o'clock in the afternoon when they left shore. After they left they saw vessel and went to it. All went on board. Witness and Albnn Doucette tried cod fishing. Others went be- low to cabin. Starlcd buck about 6.30. After Alban landed on island witness stated that she took tiller. Witness stated that she did not

see Alban take a drink. Witness stated she and George Doucette took dory and went to island.

Could not find Alban. Could not see any foot prints as had no flash light. Eugene Doucette go‘. there just as witness was about to leave island.

Vincent Sonler (sworn) corrob- orated the evidence of previous witnesses and stated that he had given half the money for the keg. He admitted having one drink on board the vessel, three drinks from a bottle coming in. He did not know of any of the others drinking coming in. He stated that none were drunk. The witness stated that he made arrangements with Eugene Doucette to go out to island after Alban. The witness stated that none of the others but Jack Gallant had anything to do with the rum.

Paul Gallant, uncle of the d9- ccased. was the next witness. He testified to Austin Doucette and a lvir. Woods coming to his house about 3 o'clock and telling him that Alban was missing. He. stated that he went to the island, saw tracks and the keg- He helped look for the body on Saturday and stat- ed that while dragging bottom on Sunday morning he and Wilfred Douccttc and Robert Gosbee found the body. Robert Gosbee saw the body lying on the itottom. They took the body into the boat and took it ashore. He stated that there was a small bruise on one eye. The body was dressed in light sum-

The distance between Robinson's Island and the breakwater was about 100 yards. It was a "hard swim“ if the tide was running. There had bccn no quarrrlling among them coming in. Witness denied that any in the party was intoxicated. The motor boat was owned, so far as witness knew. by Austin Douccttc. Asked if the tide was going strong, he replied that it was at a standstill as they were coming in.
