The Central Lot 18 Sewing Club. known as the "Jolly Sixteeners" was organized for the coming season in the School Room on
Miss M. Robin and Mrs. M. Manning. Women's Institute Su- pervisors, were in attendance and also judged the sewing of the 1952-53 First Year Class, which was under the leadership of Mrs. Clarence McFadden. The Super- visors complimented the girls on their splendid work and wished for them a successful season to come.

A wedding of much interest
took place in Central Christian
Church on Sept. 9, at 7 p.m., when
the Rev. M. Dunbar officiated at the marriage of
Miss Marion Gwendolyn MacKay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. MacKay, to Mr. John Henry Court, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Court. Sr.
The bride entered the church to the strains of the wedding march played by Miss Thelma Burns. ,
The church was decorated with baskets of multi-colored giadioli and the pews were marked with white satin ribbons and nosegays of sweet peas. During the cere- mony Miss Nancy MacNevin sang "Because" and "l'll Walk Beside You".
The bride entered the church on the arm of her father. She was attired in a strapless ballerina- length dress of.wliite net over satin. The fluted bodice and scal- loped skirt had a flowered motif in velvet. A white shrug jacket of net covered her shoulders and she were a Coronation Crown headdress of seed pearls, rhine- stones and buglebeads which held her veil of tulle d'illuslon which was edged with lace. With this she were white satin pumps, net gloves and carried a cascade bou- quet of red roses and maiden hair fern caught with streamers and white snapdragons. She wore a single strand of pearls.
The bride was attended by' her sister Mrs. Ralph MacFarlane of
brocade and net in shades of green, mauve and yellow respect- ively. The sltrapless bodices of the brocade extended over the hips and the bouffant net skirt billow- ed out over taffeta. They wore shrug jackets of brocade, net mit- tens and shoes tinted to match
their gowns. Their bandeau head- dress had nose veiis and they carried nosegays of sweetheart
roses and fern caught with irr- ldescent streamers.
The groom was attended by his brother George Court, with Mor- gan Mackay of Toronto and Dar- rell Cormody as ushers.
At the reception the bride's mother received in a dress of Eliz- abeth Blue crepe with lace and rhinestone trim, black accessories and corsage of pink roses. The groom's mother chose a frock of navy blue crepe with navy and while check trim. With this she wore navy accessories and a cor- sage of pink roses. The reception was held in the annezev of the church to which the l.x-idics' Aid catered. The guests were served by close friends of the bride. Mr. Dunbar proposed the toast to the bride to which the groom re- sponded.
For travelling the bride chose a dress suit of cocoa brown sill: corded faille with velvet trim. white accessories and corsage of sweetheart roses. After a honey- moon thc couple will take up residence in Toronto.
Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Maclfay of Tor- onto, Mr. and Mrs. James Macl(ay of Bourlamaquc, Quebec, Mrs.

All this we shall remember of today, associating it in mind with- the fact that this day marked also the 87th. Anniversary of the birth of a small woman, whose Family gathered to an old home on a farm by the Strait to honor the occasion this evening . . .
And there, as in days we once knew, the grain has been gathered in from. "the shore-field" and from "the field across the road"-there where, once upon a time 8. little path led the children to berryings and other seasonal excursions. And if the day induced a thirst, down a little distance to the right of the piece of stumpland, through the farm's last outpost of woodland wound the tiny brook.
Like a dream-stream it was in summer, clear, cool and shadowed as it flowed between unspoiled ferny banks; in autumn it was lonely, singing a song of days that were: in winter it was a strange thing, ice-caught or flowing solemnly; but in spring when we came to sip the sap of the odd sugar maples thereabout it was merry and friendly again. .
And this evening, we with fields of our own, hearing the tales of this harvest, trod again the re- membered trails, sipped again the brook-water and ke;' other trysts in the scenes of our childhood.
