If the junior league is to be a success all three of tihese must be modified and eventually corrected. Without looking up the records Dave Larkin probably has the best average to date. closely followed by C. Hogan, Downing. Phillips, R. Arsenault and others. Following the ceremony a re- ception was held at the house, those assisting in serving being Mrs. Hugh Macliellan, Mrs. Bert Crockett, Miss Ida White and Miss MacLella_n. Many of the most exclusive tail- oring orders are from out of town, notably from San Francisco, Chic- ago and Washington, D.C. Holly- wood oddly is little represented. A dozen suits and a half-dozen over- coats at 9. time are not unusual for several tailors. The biggest Order was for 50 suits for a bridegroom in Wilmington, Del.

The teacher Miss Jenn sharp, complimented the children on their work and gave a review of the work done. She made special mention of Health and George Brycnton on their attendance. only having mm. ed five days of school. Another pu- pil in Garde VIII who had only been able to attend 4.5 percent of the school year made an average of 77.8 in the examinations.

During the socialhour many com- plimentary remarks were made on the success or the pupils during the four years that Miss Sharp had been head of the school. Last year the Prince County scholarship went to this school.

Miss Sharp, who is teaching in Long River next year, was ,resent- ed with a lovely gift and address, Miss Sharp replyingin flttlnzterms expressing her regret at leaving, as her stay had been a very happy one while teaching in I-Iamllton.

The teacher gave small gifts to all the pupils. The ladies of the district treated pupils and visitors to ice cream and cake.

The National Anthem concluded a very enjoyable afternoon.

Indians Had Word for Early Cities

REG-llN'A, July 2l—(0P)—mrly folk of the plains had a word for them——these modem Saskatchewan cities. The Indian word for Moose. Jaw, according to official records,is Monsochapiskanissippi. Regina, be- fore the capital of the North West Territories was moved from Battle- ford, was known as Ooskunna Kahstakwo.

The name of Moose Jaw does not come from the Indian as do many of Saskatchewan's towns and cities. It's origin is shrouded in mystery. Regina's early name. translated. means a great heap of bones piled up—-Pile 0‘ Bones.

The best story of how Moose Jaw got its name comes from legends oi’ early days. It was the place where Lord Dunamcre's cart broke down and repairs were made with jaw bone of a moose. There are many, however. who believe the citv takes Es name from the river that flows through it and which forms the outline of the jaw of a. moose.

The capital city of Saskatchewan was christened Regina in 1882. Cit- izens desirous of honoring Queen Victoria, the reigning sovereign. and unable to agree on a suitable ‘name. appealed to the Marquis of Lame. The then governor general turned the question to his wife. Princes Louise. who suggested Regina, the Latin word for queen.
