This week, the iten up for discussion is the Stu-

dent Union Personnel Board.

Few people are aware

of this small but important committee. The Personnel Board is responsible for all hir- ing and firing of personel for all Student Union

organizations and committees .

The Board is also

responsible for setting all salaries and honor—

ariums .

This Board is comprised of 5 merbers plus a chair- man. ‘I‘he Board is appointed each Spring for the

following semesters .

'Ihat is, the 1977—78 Person-

nel Board was appointed in the Spring of '77. Interested persons are interviewed by the out-

going board.

The Board makes its recommedations

to Council who can either accept or reject these

recomreda felons .

If they are rejected, than the

Board must either go through another set of inter- views or leave it up to Council to form the new

Board.

If the recomnendations are accepted than

the new Board starts to work immediately.

'Ihis weeks' sun was supposed to carry a notice stating that applications are now open for positions on next year's Personnel Board, (accidently omitted) . Application forms may be picked up from the Secre- tary at the Student Union offices in the Barn. All applications must be returned by Friday, March 24th.

dent Union ccmmittees on Canpus.

Any student want-

ing to "get involved" or "find out what Student ‘Union does" should apply for a position of this com-

’mittee.

Some of the positions which the Board is respon— sible for include the CIMN and Sun staff, Campus Police, Bartenders, Student Judicial Court, Social Cmmittee, Drama Club and Yearbook.

These people shouldbe the last ones to catplain if a person is hired fOr a certain positiOn because they (the Council) are the ones who have the final 0.K. 'Iher Personnel Board simply recommends to Council and Council can either accept or reject them.
