TORONTO (CP)-Arthur Aron- son. ex-convict and former miner wanted on a charge of armed rob- bery in the 32.300 holdup of a bank here May 19 in which a teller was killed. was arrested Saturday night as he walked into nearby Malton airport to catch a flight to western Canada.

The 26-year-old suspected bank robber. who had been considered dangerous, was unarmed and gave up without a struggle as officers who had staked out the airport buildings closed in on him.

Aronson, who along with 32-year- old Lloyd Simpson has been charged with the armed robbery of a Toronto-Dominion bank branch in downtown Toronto. was picked up as he walked into the airport depot. Z) miles northwest of here, to get his travelling bag.

It ended the greatest manhunt in the province since the Edwin Alonzo Boyd gang was on the loose four years ago.

RECEIVED TIP

Aronson was also charged with robbery in connection with the holdup last .Ian. 26 at .the sa bank in which a man took 38. from a terrified teller who read I note he passed her. No weapon was used in this robbery.

A tip from a man who knew Ar- onson and had seen him Saturday in a tavern in Hamilton led to the arrest. A quick investigation by Hamilton detectives gave Toronto police the information they needed to set the trap.

Detectives discovered that Aron- son was booked at the Royal Con- naught Hotel. He checked in at 5:30 p.m., left I bag and came back about an hour later. He then took a Trans-Canada Air Lines limousine to Toronto.

Bellhop John Warema at the Royal Connaught remembered in detail what the bag looked like. Hamilton officers put through a rush call to Toronto police and passed on the information.
