Born At Hopewell

Born at Hopewell, N. B, 48 years ago, she was the youngest in a family of five. Two brothers now survive the Conservative Party Icader and Captain Ronald Ben- nett of Sackvllle N. B. A six-year- old son. William, also survives.

Educated at Mount. Alll~on Un- iversity, Sacloville, she went to Western Canada a few years after graduation and lived with her sis- ter, the late Mrs. Evelvm. Coates in Vancouver and with her brother, R. B. Bennett in Calgary.

She attended the 1927 Comerva- tive Convention in Winnipeg at which her brother was chosen Party Icader and 1n 1930 toured Canada with him during the election cam- paign making hundreds of friends across the Dominion.

In April, 1931, she married Mr. Herridge in a fashionable wedding in the capital. Foliowng a honey- moon in Dino the couple went to Washington w ere Mr. Herridge took eve,- the duties of Canadian Min- ister. In 1935 they returned to Ot- tawa and she took her place in the social life oi Ottawa.

Mr. Herridge will accompany his wife's body to Ottawa tonight where funeral arrangements will be com- pleted. A service will be held in Chalmers Church Saturday and burial will be in Vancouver. beside her sister Mrs. Coates.

Second Edition Of Shaw Marketing Re- port Given “Politi- cal Twist”, Claim.

OTTAWA, May 12—(CP)-The Government was under fire in the House 0f Commons today for is- suing two editions of the Shaw report on marketing of Canadian farm products in Great Brtaln. The House was discussing Agriculture Department estimates.

The original report was issued last year, written by A. M. Shaw of the Department of Agriculture. He was chairman of a committee winch studied marketing conditions overseas. A second edition was ls- sued a few weeks ago with many changes.

Agriculture Minister Gardiner said the second edition had been brought up to date bv explaining how some of the recommendations

of the first report, had been put into effect by the Government. He said in any report of the kind, a government would find it imposs- ble to accept all the recommenda-

Earl Rowe (ConDufferln-Slrncoe) claimed a political twist had been given the second edition. There were many changes. In fact it would hardlv be recognized as the recommendation of the committee. In his judgment. the second ed- ition was "just a political sheet."

Mr. Rowe accused the Liberals of opposing the 1932 Ottawa Trade Agreement and then stressing their effect on farm exports in the sec- ond edition of the report.

The Government, Mr. Gardiner said, did not agree with all re- oommendatlons in the report. The greatcr part of the report, perhaps 90 per cent of the suggestions, had been accepted and their adaptation formed the basis of the second ed-

ion.

Until recently, Mr. Gardiner said, there had not been an advertising campaign of Canadian product- in the Old Country comparable to these of some other dominion .
