From tue Sart Laxe.—Recent ex- plorations have been discovered in many valuable localities in the Great Salt Lake Country. The Mormons aided these sur- revs by all the means in their power, and the industry and good conduct o7 these people we highly spoken of. They are said to be in a most thriving condition. — Several of the Indian tribes are at war with each other. <A large number of Missionaries ore to be sent to all parts of the. world.

At Charlottetown, on the 28th ult., of Scarlet Fever, James, second son, aged 7 years; and on the 4th instant, John, thied son, aged 6 years, of Mr. James Stanley.

At Charlottetown, on Sunday the 8th instant, Mr. Joseph William Hodgson, aged 50 years.

Schr. Sealer, Dunn, from Halifax to Charlottetown, was cast away on the North side of Pictou Island, on Saturday night the 22nd ult., and is a total wreck. There are various rumours respecting the disposition of the cargo; some persons froin the [sland assert that it was plun- dered ; others that a sale was made by the master on the morning after the wreck for the benefit ofall concerned, ‘The inagistrates Gf Pictou are investigating the circumstances, and if anything sus- picious transpires, vigerous steps will be taken for having justice done,

Duun received some injuries while getting on shore, and shortly after his arrival home died. His mother has since died, and was buried on Sunday last.

Brigt. Gipsey, Bandains, sailed on Monday last for Liverpvol ;—she sailed gome time since, but got ashore on Uarbour’s Month —unloaded her, cargo— and since then reloaded—belonging to J. B. Cox.

The Schr. Young Henry, Gallant, master, beund to Halifax, was wrecked at St. Peter’s Harbour on the Qdf instant She was laden with produce by Mr. Juha Dp, re Cules.
