Many of the sums listed are stat. utory and others are revctes of former years. There are however. substantial sums for new public Projects.

Of Education Dies Suddenly

A highly esteemed cducationalist. Mr. P. Stephen Bradley, retired Secretary of Education, died sud- denly at his home on Hawthorne Avenue, Parkdale, yesterday even- lng. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Bradley was born in South Melville the son of the late John J, Bradley and Rose Duffy. He re- ceived his primary education at Kelly’: Cross School from where he matriculated to Prince" of Wales College. After obtaining his first class teacher: license at the latter institution, he taught school for several years. '

He next moved to Western Can- ads and still later to Alaska where he lived for two years. Following this he returned to his native pro- vince to teach school in Summer- vllle and Cardigan. Leaving Cardi- gan he came to Charlottetown to teach as Vice-Principal of Queen Square School.

In 1912 he entered the Provin- cial Government employ as Secre- tnry [of Education which position he occupied until his retirement in June, 1948.

Mr. Bradley was an honorary member of the Knights of Colum- bus Councll and also a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Dun- start’; Basilica parish. He was pos- sessed of a very keen mind and was particularly well informed on all matters of public interest es- pecially with regard to education. He was well and favourably known throughout the Province and in his passing the Island loses an outstanding citizen.

He was twice married, his first wife being theilate Regina Mac- Donald. In February, 1936 he mar- ried Mrs. Mary Hynea who sur- vives him. Two son.-. and four daughters, children of the first marriage survive. The sons are Earl in Ottawa and Paul at home. The daughters are Hilda, Mrs. K. B. Thibldeau, Orlliin. Ontario: Mary, Mrs. Robert Calverley: Rose Bradley, R.N., and Eileen Bradley. R.N., all of Toronto; Wilma, Mrs. ________?____..__:__
