CITY POLICE COURT - At the Stlpendlary Magistrate's Court yes- terday, a party charged with theft o! a motor vehicle was sentenced to three months in jail. Seven persons charged with being drunk and incapable also appeared. one being sentenced to 30 days in Jail, one sentenced to l0 days in jail. three were fined s10 and costs or 20 days, while the remaining two were fined $6 and costs or 1o days. A party charged with wife beatinf and a second party charged wl theft were remanded until today. A man charged with reckless driv- ing was fined $10 and costs oir 20 days. A drimk and disorderly was fined $20 and costs or 30 days.

'I'iie death occurred early Sunday morning in the City Hospital oi Mr. James W. MabIAan of 101 Dorchester Street.

The late Mr. Macbean was born at Pictou, N. 5., m May 2, 1810. He followed the sea for a number 0d years with his father Capt. Alex C. MICLQII! who was the master of ‘the S. 5. Northumher- land. Mr. MacLean served as quartenmaster on his dad's shill for quite some time and later on several other boats operating along the Atlantic coast.

He entered the employ of the Canadian National Railways in January, 1912 and served in various capacities. I-le retired on pension in May, 1M4.

Ills wife, the former Josephine Henri and one son, Alex H. organist at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, survive. Another son, James, met death in the Knights of Columbus Hostel file at at. John's, Mud. on Dec. 12. i942. The funeral will be held this morning from his late residence to St. Dunstans Basilica. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
