On Friday representative; of the Kinsmen Club visited both schools with messages for the children. advising them of the entertain- ment. and requesting them to make it e "Kinsmen Halloween" with lots of fun but no damage to pro- perty. A good program has tier-n arranged and at its conclusion each child will be given a bag of candy and fruit-S.

Young People Hold Convention At Summerside

Representatives of the Young People's Societies 0f the- Church of Christ on Prince Edward island met at the Central Avrcuuc Church of Christ in Summerside on Sat- urday and Sunday. Registration of delegates was set for 5:30 PM. on the 29th oi’ October and within a half hour of this time more than fifty-five out-of-town delegates were registered. The ladies of the Summerside Church served an in- formal supper to more than cighty people.

The Saturday night session was addressed by Mr. William 0. Weale, minister of the Grem- mount Church of Christ. l-ie in- troduced the first sermon in a series of conference messages based upon the great sermons of Christianity as found in the New Testament, Mr. Weale gave at- tention to the greatest sermon ever heard, the Sermon on the Mount. Special music was pro- vided at this service by the youth choir from Charlottetown.

The address of welcome was de- iivered by Mr. Herbert Best and was responded to by llliss June Moore of Charlottetown. Miss Dorothy Ilinkletter. secretary-trea- surer of the provincial organiza- tion. presided over the Saturday gathering.

The auditorium of the Church was comfortably filled on Sun- day morning. The local minister. Mr. M. L, Breakcnridgc. directed this assembly. Mr. Ralph Whit- row of Big River, Saskatchewan. brought the second address in the sermon series. considering “Peter On Pontacor-t". The local choir brought a hymn anthem entitled "Let A Song Go Round The World."

With the conference delegates numbering more than a 100. the Sunday afternoon session was convened. Miss Barbara MacLurc. vice-president of the provincial organization presided. A chorus of young people from Margate pre- sented special music. After the message "Paul on Mars Hill" de- livered by Mr. Byron Hnwlett. minister of the Christian Church at Cross Rgads. Mr. Weale led the group in spirited singing of some old hymns and newer chor- uses. A brief business session was held at four o'clock at which time reports of the various com-

The Summerside waterfront was - a busier place over the week-end than it has been at one time for a number of years, with one of the largest freighters ever to dock here loading potatoes and another ship at the opposite side of the Marine Wharf.

The latest arrival, which tied up yesterday about 2 p.m.. is the 4.000 ion Sandwich. of Panamanian reg- isiry. She \\'ill ‘load 63.000 one hundred pound bags of seed pola- toes for Canada Packers Ltd. and her destination will be Norfolk. Virginia. Loading operations will begin possibly on Tuesday morn- ing whcn the Sim Valley. which is now loading, will probably have sailed. This ship is also destined for Norfolk. Virginia. and she is being loaded by H. B. Willis, Inc.. of Charlottetown.

The MacFarlane Produce Co. Ltd. are attending to the steve- doringl- A Summerside potato dealer said yesterday that more potatoes are being shipped from Summerside this year by water than for many years. One reason is the large crop and then there is very little Canadian market for them and they have to be shipped to the United States. This dealer also commented that the: price being received is very poor.
