CONDOMS ON CAMPUS

There is a possibility that here will be condom dispensers stalled on the UPEI campus. .

The Student Union inquired bout a condom dispenser to be ut in last year, but there were o companies on PEI that dis- ributed dispensers. This meant hat they would have to buy one fom a company in Ontario and tock the machine themselves. But by the end of spring, Venda- on, a condom distributing com- any, started on the island. How- ver, it was too late in the school ear to make a decision.

The idea came about when he Student Union inquired about he cost, or at least a portion of he cost of condoms being cov- red under the CFS medical plan. DFS gave long consideration to his proposal but it was denied.

On this coming Sunday, the Student Council will be meeting

to consider the proposal. Infor-

mation, such as the quality of the condoms and the cost, has been gathered to bring to council. If council agrees that dispensers are needed on campus, then they will decide how many we should get and where they will go.

If the final decision is ‘yes’, then the machines will probably

be installed within a week. There is no cost to the Student Union

for the installation of the dis- pensers, and Vendacon will keep them stocked up. The price of the condoms will probably be ap- proximately $1.00 each, depend- ing on the quality.

All students are invited to come to the council meeting on September 25 at 1:00 pm, and all comments will be welcome.
