Two Scott Act eases brought by Prosecu- tor Henderson, and two young lads for fight- ing in the Market Hall last night were adju- dicated upon by the Stipendiary Magistrate this morning. One of the Scott Act cases was dismissed on the evidence of the proprie- tor and the other was adjourned until Tues- day next. The two pugilists stand over until to-morrow.

The body found on Sunday in the Roman Catholic burying giound at Lancaster, has not yet been positively identified, and it is doubted by many if the authorities will ever discover who the unfortunate man was. Several times yesterday it looked as though a strong identification had been established, but after all there seems to be only the evidence of two witnesses as to the identity of the dead man. These men stated at the inquest yesterday that the remains were those of 2Eliass. White, but others who should be abie to identify Mr. White’s body, declare that it is not that unfortunate man. The theory that it was the late Patrick McManus was exploded at an early hour yesterday, when some of his friends, after examining the body, affirmed that it did not resemble him.
A Celebrated Case.
Lonvon, May 2. The libel suit brought against Wm. Ridgway, publisher of Picadilly for $25,- 000, for asserting in a pamphlet on the Irish question recently issued by him, that Sir John Brown, plaintiff, and former home rule member of Parliament, was a
Fenian, and an ally of the invincibles came up for trial to-day. The court room was crowded. Mr. Ridgeway
pleaded that the alleged libel was true. Sir, John, plaintiff, made an e mphatic denial of the defendant’s statements. Sui John said he left the Land League in June, 1880, after a quarrel with its man- agers ‘or opening his telegrams. He never was a Fenian.
