Charlie Shepard scored what became the game-winning touch- down for Winnipeg on a six-yard end sweep which followed two 24- yard passes by quarter Jim Van Pelt to Leo Lewis and Frank Gil- liam.
It was Bombers" fourth victory in as many games this year with Eskimos, Bombers hold a five- point first-place lead.
V-an Pelt's 15-yard pass to Gil- liam in the first quarter counted for one bomber touchdown. and the other game on Leo Lewis‘ sen- sa-titmal 46-yard run through a maze of Eskimos in the second quarter. Van Pelt converted all three Winnipeg touchdowns.
Parker passed for both the Ed- monton ouchdowns, firing 13 yards to alker in the first quai- ter and 15 to Joe Mobra in the second. Mobra converted both and counted 21 single in the third uiap field goal went wide.

It is indeed anything but a blue Monday for you folks who hopped on the Milwaukee wagon before this series got under- way. This could be it this afternoon and shouldtbe Braves come through our good friend, the editor of Sports Views and Revrews in your Evening Patriot will have hit 1t right on the nose. He called for Milwaukee in five games.
SINCE WE CHATTED with

SIEBERN LOOKED anything but big league calibre in that outfield. No doubt the lad has what it takes but he didn‘t show any of it in yesterday’s ball game. Tony Kubek came up with

allowed the first Milwaukee to come across home plate. At the plate Kubek has been bad, getting one base knock in eight trips. Of course he has lots of company in that department. Once you mention Bauer you mentioned about all the batting power the Yankees have exibited. The Bombers had four hits Saturday and won a ball game. Their fans argued that this was something that wouldn't happen again. It happened the very next day when Warren Spahn tamed them on two base blows.
THE TASK FACING Casey Stengel is a tremendous one. He must win three straight games from the world champions and two of those in the Milwaukee park. Even if Bob Turley could top Lew Burdette today, Casey is in a bad way for his next starter, Likely if the series went to six games. Don Larsen would be back. Whitey Ford would undoubtedly be the New York pitcher if the series didn‘t conclude till Thursday.
Of course Fred Haney has no such worries. lie figures Bur- dette Will lock things up this afternoon. If he fails. Haney still 15 laughing. He has Rush. Pizzaro. Willey just itching to get a start [day afternoon and were a huge llednestlay and back of them comes Spahn and Burdette.
It surely is anything but bright for the New Yorkers and about the only solace they can get is in the record books. Pitts- burgh Pirates back in 1925 trailed the Washington Senators 3-1 in games and rebounded to win the next three and the seires.

The 37-year-old lefthander, an Oklahoma cattle rancher in the off season, choked off the Amer- ican League champions 3-0 with only two hits—a triple by Mickey Mantle and a single by Bill Skow- ron.
The Yankees. trailing 3-1 in games. now find themselves in most desperate straits. only once has a team come back to win a seven-game series after losing three games. Spahn and Ford battled along on even terms for five scoreless innings. In fact, Spahn didn't al- low a hit until Mantle tripled to the auxiliary scoreboard in left with one out in the fourth.

At the last second he pulled up, appar- ently thinking Mantle was going to get there in time. He didn't, the ball rolled to the wall for a triple.
With the infield pulled in to cut off the run at the plate, Johnny Logan rapped a sharp grounder at Tony K ub ek. The Yankee shortstop, hitless in 13 at bats, let the ball hop through his legs. Schoendienst ramped home with an unearned run.

Hank Bauer Leads Yanks To First Series Victory

NEW YORK (AP) — Bruiser Hank Bauer put New York's Yan- kees back into the world series Saturday with the help 0f shutout pitching by Don Larsen and Ryne Duren and a base-running boner by Milwaukee Braves. B a u e r drove in all the Yankee runs in a 4-0 triumph, their first after two jarring defeats at Milwaukee.
The ex-marine knocked in the only two runs off loser 8011) Rush when be singled to right with the bases loaded on three walks in the fifth. He crashed his third homer of the series with Enos Slaughter on base in the seventh off relief man Don McMahon. Hank has hit safely in his last 17 series games.
Larsen who tired after throwing 113 pitches in seven innings, struck out eight. Casey Stengel took him out or a pinch-hitter in the seventh. l
Duren was wild. He walked three and uncorked a wild pitch while protecting Larsen’s victory.
BRAVES’ BONER .
The largest series crowd in five years, 71,599, gasped when the Braves pulled a base running blunder in the sixth.
New York had gone ahead in the bottom of the fifth 2—0 and it seemed the Braves were coming to life for the first time in the game.
Red Schoendienst slammed a long drive to right that the fast- fielding Bauer held to a single. After Eddie Mathews struck out for the third straight time, Hank Aaron walked.
Then it happened. Wes Coving- ton‘s h-ard drive glanced off Bill Skowron’s glove. Skowron quickly r e t r i e v e d it as Schoendiensi started for home.
