Tue Tea and Social, held in the basement of Zion Church last evening, was a very pleas- ing and successful affair. A large number of people were present, the tea and refreshment tables were well patronized, and the literary and musical part of the programme was effi- ciently carried out. About $50 were realized.

Tue chidren’s entertainment in St, James’ Hall last evening was an exceedingly pleasing and successful affair, some two hundred chil- dren being present, besides fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles and cousins. Foran hour the little ones were diverted by the wonders of the magic lantern; and then they proceeded to divert their elders with songs, recitations, ete., many of which were weil rendered. Mr, Carruthers presided; and good order reigned.

Clark Hatch, of Bowdoinham, Me., aged 82, started to walk to a neighbor's Friday morning, and was found soon after lying on the road dead, with his clothes entirely burned from his body. A short time ago Esquire Bohrman of Avondale, Ohio, lost a suit involving $500. Rumors have reached Hong Kong re- specting a conspiracy to overthrow the Mikado’s Government in Japan. A num- ber of Japanese malcontents have conspired with some Corean refugees to raise a rebel- lion in Corea with a view of involving China and Japan in difficulties with each other and then to seize occasion to openly rebel and overthrow the Japanese Government. It is understood that the head of the pro- gressive party in Corea was connected with the conspiracy. These discoveries made are believed to have removed all danger.
