Mr. MacRac was horn at Water- side, Pownal, August 27, 1872, and ivas In his 75th year. His boyhood was went; at home and he enlist- cd with others and served as a machine gunner in the Boer War in South Africa.

He was a splendid rifle shot and excelled- in the adjustment and use of fire arms. In the Fi-rst World War he served with distinc- tion as gunnery Instructor holh in Canada and Great. Britain and was promo-ted to the rank of Major. He was twice married, first In Margarat Irving. daughtor of the late Mr. D. P. Irving, M.L.A.. and some years after her death to Grace Dutcher. daughter of Rev, Mr. Dutchcr. g former Methodist Minister who at one time had a pastorate at Vernon River. Major MacRae after his second marriage went to Honolulu when; he lived for some years and later molvcd to Suva. Fiji Islands where he had I successful lumber business.

His genIalIty brought about hlm I large circle of friends. He had s very rewntlive memory and ahoundod in folk lore being a very Interesting Gonversationalilst. His passing will be regretted by his many friends and relatives on P. E I.
