Tus New York Sun's cable letter from London, says that Mrs. Weldon, a very pretty but turbnient woman, who has made the Police Courts and the public familiar with her wrongs for years, has just brought out an ugly blewish in the English divorce law. Her husband offered her £300 a year and a house. but he insisted that he should also live with her, and the Court has decided that he mnat do so or go to prison.

The almanac also contains a list of the reign- ing sovereigns of the world and other valuable intormation. To give it a deserving review would*take more time than is at our disposals. Mr, Chappelle seems determined to make each isgue superior to the previous calender. This year Chappelle’s Almanac will be on sale ia every section of the Island. No one living in this Province can afford to be without it.

Tue Dominion Government has received advices from British Columbia stating that a conflict between Indians at Metlakalla led by Bishop Ridley, and those led by Missionary Duncan, is imminent. Dunean, to whom nearly all the Indians are much attached, has heen among them for years, and it was not until Bishop Ridley arrived, who was sent from England, that trouble began. In Feb- ruary last an American revenue cutter render- ed assistance in quelling a revolt at Metl:- kalla. The report states that Ridley’s followers, although few in number, are well armed, and that any moment a serious out- break may take place resulting in great loss of life.

A five-year old boy of Mr. James Mahoney, of St. Thomas, Ont., on the 2nd inst. drank acup of lye. The Doctors say the boy cannot live. Mre. John Kleiser, of Berlin, Ont., who has not been of very sound mind for some time past, hung herself on the 2:d inst. She piaced a picket of the fence across the staircase, attached a rope to it, and jumped into eternity. . George Seott, of Kramosa township, who was thrown from his waggov on Thursday last by the horses ranning away through the fallin, of the tongue from the neck-ycke, died from his injuries on the 2nd. Deceased was eighty years of age, and emigrated frum Roxburshire,

Prince Street School Entertainment

The audience last evening was not very large, and the bad conduct of some of the beys somewhat impaired the pleasure of the entertainment. Too much praise could hardly be given the choir of the school under the direction of Miss Barr, and the powers of the new organ were well brought out by Mr. Blanchard. The solos and readings were very well rendered ; {and the duct was good. Principal Mellish presided.
