Expectation, anxiety, and the desire for victory were indicated in most of the faces that lined the rink last night just before the Wanderers, of Halifax, and our team, the Abegweits, lined up to decide the matter of euperiority.

It mast not be supposed, however, that the spirit of fairplay was absent. Allows ances were being mnde for the three battles aiready fought by the visitors, and for their haviog to fight our crack team —who were practically fresh.

When the Wanderers took the ice it was apparent that they required no sympathy. They were thoroughly fit.

The rink was crowded. Men, women, girls, young men and boys were all there, manifesting an eagerness for the beginning of the game. They were one and all ani- mated with a loyal desire for the success of the home team. They gave evidence that at the sligitest provocation they were ready to give expression to their pent-up feelings.

Later on, when they had the opportun~ ity. they roartd like a cyclone.

At 8.15 o’clock the referee (Dr. H. D. Johnson) called the menont. The ice was perfect, the light good. Ham Bethune placed himself in front of the Abegweits’ goal, Clarkson did the same for the Wan- derers, and the men stood wt attention.

Time was getting short now and the puck was smartly thrown down to pursue ts troubled course. This time the Wan, derers hvgged it closely and under their skilful performance, it found ite way over Bethune’s guard making th score 5— 4.

At this juncture the Wanderers seemed to think time was up and they were leaving the ice. The referee brought them back for about two minutes play during which the Abegw:its strove but in vain to score. The tell rang to close the half just as the game was in its most interesting stage, and the Abegweit men were playing like heroes. But there is no appeal against Time, and the teams after cheering for each other withdrew,

After all, the score is one to be proud of. Five to four is not bad when we consider that the victors are the cham- pions of Nova Scotia.

As regards criticism of the teams it must be confessed tbat the Wanderers possess wooderful agility, developed by much practice together, and their tactics are superb. On the other hand our men are fully their equals in ability and pluck, and probably tueir superiors im staying abilities gAfter our Abegweits have played afew more matches we would like to see them meet the Wanderers again

Our boys, however, were waking up,and one by eve giving evidence of ability. Sullivan pot the puck and brought it away from home, and then Uneworth got itand made aguod dash. On both occasions the roar of the cyclone was heard, The Wanderers, however, forced it back andthe row died down. Howatt here made some fine piay, but the feature of the game at this time was Be» thune’s good stopping. A struggle now began that gave the spectators the finest display of hockey that baseen seen in Hileberough Rink. Scwpar ScHoon Assocration— At a meeting of the executive of the Provinciai Sunday School Associstion in tLe Y. M. C. A. yesterday afternoon the following dele gation was appointed to attend the World’s Sunday Schoo! Convention to be held in London, England, in July: Rev. John Goldsmith, President of the Association, Rev. David Sutherland, Rev. W. H. Warren aod Rev. W. J. Kirby. Arrangements were mie for the organization of a Dietrict Convention in Queen’s County, and it was decided to hold the next annual convention of the Provincial Association vat Charlottetown.

Mr. Gill is at present on the Stanley fitting up the mail »eom for sorting letters on that boat. Should it be found i nporsible for the Stanley to make the return trip today he will proceed to Cape Tormentive fron Pictou.
