FORUM, Montreal, Que., Jan. 14 —(By the Canadian Press)—-The Toronto Maple Leafs safe in first place of the Canadian section standing of the National Hockey League, scored a 6-4 victory over the Montreal Maroons in a fast .and exciting encounter here to-i night. The Maroons played fast‘ and sound hockey and the outcome was in doubt until the last two minutes of the game.

The Maroons started off well with l a brace of goals within the first three minutes of play. Archie Wll-l cox and then Nels Stewart scored goals unassisted. The Leafs put] ,their kid line of Primeau, Jackson‘ ' and Chuck Conacher into the game and they began their heavy scor-i ing. Chuck Conacher scored two goals, one on a pass from Joe Pri- meau in the first and on a lone ef- fort ‘in the last period. Primeau got one in the first on a double assist, C.
