When Lt. - Gen. Guy Simonds, former chief of the general staff, and Mai-Gen. W. H. S. Macklin, former army adjutant—gcineral, re— tired from the army three years ago they began. in print and on public platforms, to rap the gov: torment sharply for its defence decisions. or lack of them.
The Conservatives were in oppo- sition then, of course, and they seized on the generals' arguments with some glee, using them as a springboard for a demand for es- tablishment of a Commons de- fence committee to air the charges.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold King, raised the latches on the doors of their second- storey apartment home to stop his wanderings.
Lawrence learned to make a pile of hassocks and lift the latches while standing on tip- toe.
Once he climbed through a thirdafioor window to the roof. Another time he slip p e d through a bedroon window 10 feet to the ground. He has been scaling the high backyard fence since he was two.
He just likes to go places and see people.
Particularly he likes to see the policemen who bring him home after each adventure.
